Warner Bros Discovery has now acquired international rights to the documentary Diabolical: The Epstein Files from the Australian pubcaster the ABC.
Produced and distributed by the ABC, the documentary examines Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, trafficking network and the systemic failures that enabled years of abuse. Diabolical: The Epstein Files is produced by ABC’s Jennifer Feller and executive produced by Caitlin Shea.
The documentary follows the rise, operations, network and eventual downfall of the convicted sex offender accused of running a long-term sexual abuse and sex-trafficking operation that exploited underage girls over many years, Jeffrey Epstein. The 90-minute documentary is also aiming to examine the alleged missed opportunities and institutional failures across law enforcement, legal and social systems that contributed to his criminal activity continuing largely unchecked for years.
According to Myriam Lopez-Otazu, Senior VP, International Unscripted Content and Global Networks EMEA at WBD said: “Diabolical: The Epstein Files is a timely examination of a case that not only shook international headlines but profoundly affected perceptions of power and influence.” She added, “By exploring the scale and consequences of these crimes, the documentary provides our audiences with insight into one of the most significant and disturbing abuse cases in recent history.”
The documentary will start rolling out across international territories on HBO Max on September 3.
