Maxine Productions, a Sony Pictures Television company known for high-profile projects like Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV and The Fall of Diddy, has secured an exclusive agreement with Kristil Krug’s family for an upcoming true-crime docuseries, beating out more than 30 rival production companies.

This definitive partnership will grant the production team unprecedented access to the family’s private archives, personal photographs, correspondence, and first-hand accounts from those closest to Kristil Krug.

The series will center on the tragic 2023 case of Kristil Krug, a 44-year-old chemical engineer from Colorado who was murdered after months of relentless stalking and threats. While it was initially suspected that her ex-boyfriend was behind the digital impersonation and harassment, an investigation revealed that the perpetrator was actually her husband, Daniel Krug.

He was subsequently found guilty of first-degree murder and criminal impersonation, resulting in a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. In the wake of this devastating tragedy, her family successfully channeled their grief into advocacy by backing the passage of “Kristil’s Law” in Oregon.

This legislation requires social media platforms and communication providers to expedite their responses to search warrants in domestic violence cases, ensuring law enforcement can secure critical digital evidence before patterns of abuse escalate into violence.

Though the gripping case has already been featured on prominent true-crime programs such as CBS’s 48 Hours, NBC’s Dateline, and ABC’s 20/20, this new docuseries promises to deliver the most comprehensive and deeply personal look at the story to date.
