Netflix has officially cast Morgan Spector as Robert Langdon in its upcoming adaptation of Dan Brown’s The Secret of Secrets, introducing a new face to the iconic Harvard symbologist previously portrayed by Tom Hanks on the big screen.
Developed by Dan Brown and Lost co-creator Carlton Cuse, the series centers on another high-stakes mystery in which murder, hidden codes, historical secrets, and cutting-edge science converge. Cuse serves as both writer and showrunner, while he and Brown executive produce the project.
The story follows Langdon as he races to find his missing scientist girlfriend while tracking down a manuscript containing discoveries capable of transforming humanity’s understanding of the human mind. As the investigation unfolds, he is drawn into a dangerous conspiracy built around encrypted clues, ancient symbols, and powerful forces determined to keep the truth hidden.
Rebecca Hall is expected to play the female lead, while Spector will continue his role in HBO’s The Gilded Age, with production schedules arranged to accommodate both projects.
Netflix handed the project a straight-to-series order in May 2025. Brown’s novel The Secret of Secrets, which serves as the basis for the adaptation, was published on September 9, 2025.
