Beta Film is bringing a crime-heavy selection to MIPCOM 2026, combining true-crime dramas, gangster stories, mystery and cosy crime. The slate includes Ukraine’s first true-crime series Silent Nava, TIFF title Blindspot Berlin, Italian crime drama The Man from Milan, and returning international titles including Bookish and El Immortal.
From real crimes to fictional investigations
Silent Nava marks Ukraine’s first true-crime drama, offering a dark look at a society where corruption and complicity allow predators to evade justice. Produced by Sfera Film for KYIVSTAR TV, the eight-part series is directed by Dmytro Andriyanov and stars Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Anastasiia Pustovit and Andrii Saminin. The series will have its international premiere at MIPCOM on October 12.
Also joining the slate is Blindspot Berlin, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Produced by NEUESUPER for ARD Degeto, RBB, NDR and hr, the six-part series follows the investigation surrounding the 2016 Berlin Christmas market attack and examines the institutional failures and political blind spots that preceded the tragedy. David Nawrath directs the series and co-created and co-wrote it with David Marian.
Italian crime drama The Man from Milan follows a notorious criminal who enters a rehabilitation programme in an attempt to secure his freedom, only to find that escaping his past proves more difficult. Directed by Simone Spada, the eight-part series stars Alessandro Tedeschi, Vittoria Puccini and Alberto Astorri.
Beta Film is also presenting Portobello, Marco Bellocchio’s drama based on the real-life case of an Italian television host who was falsely accused of Mafia involvement in the 1980s. Meanwhile, Bookish returns for a second season, with creator and star Mark Gatiss bringing Gabriel Book back for new mysteries, while El Immortal heads toward its final season, continuing its gangster saga inspired by the real-life leader of Madrid’s Los Miami gang.
