Peter Capaldi is joining the cast of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building for its upcoming sixth season.
Known to audiences worldwide for playing the Twelfth Doctor in Doctor Who, Capaldi will appear as a recurring guest star in the new London-set season.
Capaldi joins fellow Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant, who were previously announced as part of the season’s cast. The new additions create an unusual reunion of three actors who have portrayed the iconic Time Lord. The season will also feature Jim Broadbent, who played an alternate version of the Eleventh Doctor in the 1999 Doctor Who comedy special The Curse of Fatal Death.
The sixth season is set to take Only Murders in the Building beyond its familiar New York setting for the first time. Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) will travel to London, where they become involved in a new murder investigation.
Production is currently continuing in the U.K., with the season bringing together an extensive guest cast that also includes Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis, Kathryn Hunter, Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi and Lesley Nicol.
Beyond Doctor Who, Capaldi is particularly known for his acclaimed performance as Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It, a role that earned him two British Comedy Awards. His more recent credits include Apple TV+’s Criminal Record and the second season of Amazon’s The Devil’s Hour.
