The MGM+ prequel series Bosch: Start of Watch has expanded its ensemble by adding six new cast members, including Raphael Sbarge, Seamus Dever, and Ryan McPartlin.

Set in 1991 Los Angeles, the show features a 26-year-old Harry Bosch, played by Cameron Monaghan, during his formative days as a rookie officer. This new chapter explores a city pushed to the edge by racial tensions and gang violence, all while navigating a fractured LAPD. The narrative centers on a high-profile heist and a web of corruption that challenges Bosch’s loyalties and defines his future as a detective.

Among the new additions, Seamus Dever will portray the blunt training officer Hastings, known as “Mr. Fix It,” while Ryan McPartlin takes on the role of Mike Garner, a stubborn detective who clashes with Bosch. Raphael Sbarge joins as the meticulous Sergeant “Sunshine” Finn, whose rigid standards are a source of dread for the rookies.
Interestingly, author Michael Connelly noted that since there is no direct prequel novel, Bosch: Start of Watch draws from various fragments of Harry’s early years mentioned throughout the book universe, venturing into what he calls “uncharted character territory.”
