Kit Connor and Diana Silvers are set to star in PRƎPPY, a new true-crime film directed by Janicza Bravo for STX Entertainment and Aggregate Films.
Connor, who recently landed the role of Cyclops in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie, will star opposite Silvers, known for Booksmart and Ma. The film is based on an original screenplay by David Levine and Rose Lichter-Marck.
What Is PRƎPPY About?
Set in New York during the summer of 1986, PRƎPPY centers on the murder of 18-year-old Jennifer Levin, who was found dead in Central Park after spending the night with Robert Chambers, a former Manhattan private-school student.
Chambers initially claimed that Levin’s death was accidental during consensual sex, but the case quickly became a national sensation. His privileged background and the circumstances surrounding the killing fueled intense media coverage and raised questions about wealth, class, privilege and sexuality.
The case captivated the public for years and became one of the most notorious criminal stories of 1980s New York. PRƎPPY will revisit the events through the lens of the people and social world surrounding the case.
Who Is Directing PRƎPPY?
Janicza Bravo, whose credits include Zola, Lemon and BBC One’s The Listeners, is directing and producing the film. Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and John Buderwitz will produce for Aggregate, while Peter Coleman and Paula Manzanedo will produce for STX.
A release date for the film has not yet been announced.
