The world of high-stakes espionage is back in session as Prime Video’s Emmy-winning hit Mr. & Mrs. Smith officially begins production on its highly anticipated second season.
Relocating from New York to Los Angeles, a move bolstered by a significant tax credit from the California Film Commission, the series sees the return of stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. In a major career move, Erskine joins Glover as an executive producer for the new installment, though the exact extent of their characters’ involvement remains a closely guarded secret.
Adding a fresh dynamic to the agency, Season 2 will introduce a younger “Smith” couple played by Anora breakout star Mark Eydelshteyn and Talia Ryder. Ryder stepped into the role of the new Jane after Sophie Thatcher had to depart the project due to scheduling conflicts with Yellowjackets.
Behind the scenes, Mr. & Mrs. Smith has also found a new visionary leader in showrunner Anna Ouyang Moench, known for her work on Beef.
Following a triumphant first season that garnered 16 Emmy nominations and two wins, the production is gearing up to deliver an even bolder and more complex exploration of marriage and international intrigue.
