ABC News announces a new true crime docuseries, Trophy Wife Murder on Safari, which recounts how a mysterious death during an African hunting trip triggered a years-long international investigation. The series premieres exclusively on Hulu on July 21 and is directed and executive produced by Dani Sloane, known for Girl in the Picture (2022) and Child Star (2024).
In Trophy Wife Murder on Safari, Larry Rudolph, a flashy dentist from the Pittsburgh area with a passion for big game hunting and even bigger secrets, is under the lens. Among those secrets, one catches the eye: a long-term affair with his dental hygienist, Lori Milliron. When Rudolph must choose between his wife of 34 years, Bianca, and his mistress, tragedy strikes, and one of them is found dead in his safari cabin in Zambia. While local authorities initially ruled it an accident, suspicions quickly grew back in the U.S. As investigators dig deeper, they reveal decades of scandal in Rudolph’s personal and professional life, including affairs, fraud, and more. But could this egomaniac truly be a killer? And if so, does the FBI have the evidence to prove it?
Trophy Wife Murder on Safari, a three-part series, includes exclusive interviews from federal prison with both Larry Rudolph and Lori Milliron, offering a rare glimpse into their relationship. It also features conversations with a wide range of people familiar with the case: Rudolph’s former business partner, Milliron’s daughter, the couple’s insurance broker, FBI agents involved in the investigation, even the former U.S. ambassador to Zambia, and more. Former employees from Rudolph’s dental office and members of Safari Club International also come forward for the first time, revealing a darker portrait of the man at the heart of this shocking story.
